What we’ll build in 2019

2018 was a big year for HANDS HQ. We launched a major new feature, Risk Register, which gives health and safety teams total control over their risk assessment library. The product team also completed a major upgrade to digital signatures so RAMS can be signed on site with a mobile device, capturing a photo for evidence.

We also released numerous other improvements to the platform, some you may have noticed, some you may not, but far too many to mention.

We are well into 2019, but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share some insight on what HANDS HQ is planning to build this year.

Deciding what to build

We receive huge amounts of feedback and ideas from our customers, some of which are suggestions for improving, others asking us to build whole new products. There are too many ideas to build them all, so we need to decide what we build, and when.

To help us make those decisions, we ask ourselves: does this align with the vision for HANDS HQ?

HANDS HQ aims to be the most trusted risk assessment platform for high-risk work. That means we are not an EHS platform with 30 modules. We believe in doing fewer things, but doing them exceptionally well.

We’ve identified the big features that we want to build in 2019, and are investing heavily in growing the team to help us deliver them.

What we’ll build in 2019

Connect HANDS HQ to your other software

Modern businesses use a number of cloud-based tools, and it’s important they can talk to each other. We are weeks away from launching an integration with Zapier, which will allow HANDS HQ to connect to 1000+ cloud-based applications.

One of our customers is currently piloting the integration and has shared an example on how they’re using it:

“At Pod Point, we undertake a high volume of projects, and Zapier enables us to integrate HANDS HQ with our job management system. This means we can create projects in HANDS HQ and pre-fill key information including site addresses and date, saving our team at least 10 mins per project.

Additionally, the integration allows us to report on RAMS completion within the job management system, automatically saving a copy of the RAMS pdf, so we can ensure compliance for every project.”
Kostas Papadakis, Commercial Operations Team Manager at Pod Point Ltd.

Training Register

Training Register

By far our most requested ‘big’ feature is the ability to manage the training, certifications and qualifications of personnel.

Training Register will prevent unqualified or uncertified personnel from ever being sent to a job. Should personnel not have the necessary training or qualifications, you can prevent them from being added to a project until the situation is rectified.

Notifications will inform you and your team about expiring training long before it becomes a problem.

If you’d like early access to the Training Register, let me know!

COSHH Register

We introduced COSHH assessments back in 2015 and gave them a major upgrade in 2017. Since then we’ve grown our database to over 10,000 substances.

The COSHH Register will give health & safety teams the ability to limit the COSHH assessments available to users, preventing them from adding substances the H&S team don’t want them to.

What we are exploring

Some other ideas we are exploring:

POWRA (point of works)/dynamic risk assessments

A risk assessment completed by personnel before commencing work, on a mobile device.

Project review dates

Some projects go on for a long time, so periodic reviews of a RAMS is necessary. Set review dates and capture the outcome of the review in the project history.

Client address book

Many customers work with the same clients and locations over and over again. The client address book will make it easy to complete site details.

We’re really excited for 2019, and getting these features in to our customers hands, making businesses more efficient, and work safer.

All the new systems look good, maybe when someone has time you could arrange an online demo, to my senior management?

Thanks for the comment Carl – we’ll be in touch to arrange a demo!
